Our History

1904

Est. 1904, The Kings Mutual Insurance Company is one of Canada’s oldest property and casualty insurance companies. Founded by six farmers, our company is rooted in agriculture and committed to fulfilling the needs of residential, commercial, and agricultural policyholders. To this day, a Kings Mutual policy provides its holder with ownership in the company and a say on the Board of Directors, as well as access to policyholder rebates.

1954

Protecting you and your property is not only our top priority, it’s the foundation on which The Kings Mutual Insurance Company developed the Loss Prevention program in 1954. A service that empowers us with the ability to provide you with affordable insurance, while acting as a customized resource centre for helpful ways to keep yourself and your family safe. It’s a philosophy the company has been living ever since.

2016

Stronger together, the Pictou County Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company amalgamated with The Kings Mutual Insurance Company in 2016, providing the combined policyholders with greater value and a wider range of affordable options. As both companies had been serving Nova Scotians since their inception, the blended history and community focused mandate made a combined effort both practical and organic.
