Berwick Library Kings Mutual Living Room

January 31, 2017 Giving Back

Berwick, Nova Scotia: The Kings Mutual Insurance Company has made a generous $15,000 donation to the new Berwick Library. A local company with their main office located in Berwick, Kings Mutual and its staff recognize the importance of making a contribution to the Province of Nova Scotia as being an integral part of their corporate responsibility.

The donation will furnish the "Living Room", a community space connected to the library’s main entrance. The space, which will be known as the Kings Mutual Living Room, is intended as a place where everyone can sit, relax, have conversations, and meet with friends and neighbours. "We consider the library to be the community’s living room," says Barbara Lipp, Berwick branch manager. "With this donation, we can furnish the space and make it welcoming to everyone." Darrel Coats, Senior Vice President of the company says, "The library is at the heart of the community, and that’s where our roots started." The living room area in the new facility will be open for all to enjoy whenever the building is open. It will be connected to an outside patio and garden area.

Plans are currently under way for the Berwick Library to open in January 2017. Cara Cameron, Chief Operating Officer for Kings Mutual says that the staff in Berwick were excited to know that they would be supporting a part of the new library. Ms. Cameron said, "I’m sure we will see families enjoying the living room and the library. What a great way to give back to our community."

Press are invited to a "Pub Quiz Night" fundraiser event on November 19, at the Berwick & District Lions Club, 7 – 9 PM. Ann-Marie Mathieu, CEO of Annapolis Valley Regional Library, and Cara Cameron will be on hand for a formal announcement of the donation.
